1818 Society UK Chapter

The Winter Reunion of the British Chapter will be held from noon to 3.00 pm on Saturday, 24 th November 2007 at the Army & Navy Club, 36 Pall Mall, London. The Club is located at the corner of Pall Mall and St. James’s Square.

The cost of our three-course buffet lunch with the usual pre-lunch drinks, wine with the meal and coffee and mints will be £48 per person. We regret that we have had to raise the price, despite the Army & Navy Club discounting the rental of the rooms we use. But, as we know, it is expensive to eat in nice surroundings in London. We need to break-even on our social events as we still have no subscription, and a good turnout helps to make this possible. So please come and reconnect with your friends in the Bank. We will meet as usual at noon in the St. James Room on the First Floor before moving to the Marlborough Suite on the ground floor for lunch.

This year, we look forward to welcoming Maritta Koch-Weser from the German Chapter to our lunch. Maritta, former Director and Chief of a number of Environment Divisions in the World Bank, is the Chief Executive of GEXSI (Global Exchange for Social Investment), a UK-registered charity that encourages entrepreneurship in developing countries through moving people from aid to market. She will speak to us about this initiative during our pre-lunch drinks.
